Through Tyler’s husband, she is related to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. Bonnie Tyler and her husband have also made a lot of money off of real estate.
In the 80s, the Happy Days star was the biggest heartthrob. Scott Baio did not do much acting after Happy Days. After his acting career, Scott Baio got more involved in politics. He describes his political views as conservative. Recently he endorsed Donal Trump in the Presidential election. In 2016, he spoke at the opening night of the Republican National Convention. Judd Nelson has had a stead and continuous acting career. On top of acting, Nelson has also authored four books released on Kindle. He is also a screenwriter and producer. Nelson is still most famous for his roles in the late John Hughe’s colt classic films.
This 80’s star was the lead singer for the band, A-Ha. Their breakthrough hit was the song, Take On Me, which everyone loved. Even though the band worked hard and tried to keep performing, they did not continue to be well received so they eventually stopped. Morten Harket grew up in southern Norway. Harket’s music abilities developed at an early age. When he was four years old, he started writing music and playing piano. Harket has five children with three different women.

She also currently plays the character, Ruby, on Ash vs. Evil Dead. Can you believe how little she has aged? She still has those peircing blue eyes.

Queen Of The 80s: Molly Ringwald
In the 80s, Molly Ringwald stole the show. She was the queen of 80s cult classics like The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink. As a super famous teen, Ringwald has stated that she was very aware of her role as a role model. After her role in For Keeps, in which she played a pregnant teen, she said, “I didn’t want to give the wrong message to teenagers. I sort of felt a certain responsibility – I really didn’t want to make a movie that said in any way that having a baby at that age was going to be easy.”
After rising to fame in the 70’s, arguably Carly Simon’s best years were throughout the 80s. As well as singing she also appeared in the film Perfect in 1985. The 80s were also big for Carly personally. She met and married her husband James Hart, although they later divorced in 2007. Recently, Carly has released an autobiography titled Boys in the Trees: A Memoir in which she writes about her early childhood years up to life in her mid 30s. She also recently announced that she is working on a music compilation with her son, Ben.
Patty emerged onto the country music scene in the 1980s and by 1988 she had released her third album which was a huge commercial success and propelled the star into the limelight. Loveless was also the opening act for other huge country stars such as George Jones, Reba McEntire and George Strait. The star continued to have success throughout the 90s, although she did battle with throat issues and eventually ended up having surgery. Today Patty tends to keep out of the spotlight and prefers to spend time with her family.
Best known for being a founding member of The Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde, rose to prominence in the 70s. Although Hynde continued to be extremely successful throughout the 80’s she also experienced a great blow when fellow band member, James Honeyman-Scott passed away. This resulted in many changes to the bands lineup throughout the decade. In 2014 Chrissie embarked on a solo career and in 2016 she toured with The Pretenders for around three months.
Toni Basil is most notorious for her hit song Mickey which was released in1982. The song even knocked off Lionel Richie off the No.1 top spot. Although the song was a hit, no other songs that Toni released were as successful. In the 80’s Basil also turned her hand to acting, and appeared in a couple of films including Slaughterhouse Rock in 1988. More recently, in 2010 the star choreographed “The Show Girl Must Go On” in Las Vegas.
Sheena Easton saw much of her success throughout the 80s decade. She dueted with Kenny Rogers for the song We’ve Got Tonight in 1983. She also collaborated with Prince in 1987 for the hit U Got the Look, which was nominated for a Grammy award. Easton also made an appearance on the hit show Miami Vice in 1987. More recently Easton has been keeping a lower profile, although in March 2017 it is expected that she will appear on the Broadway production of 42nd Street.
Debbie Gibson is best known for her music career, although on an odd occasion she also did some acting. Her debut album was released in 1987 – “Out Of The Blue” – and was certified Platinum three times. Aside from her carer, Gibson caught media’s attention due to being a victim of stalking on more than one occasion. Furthermore, the singer admitted to suffering from Lyme disease in 2013. Most recently, Gibson appeared on “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” to discuss her issues with drug abuse in the past.
Goldie Hawn may have been a star of the 80s, but she is just as in the spotlight in 2017 as she was back then. Hawn’s rise to fame was a result of her role in “Rowan’s & Martin’s Laugh-In” for which she won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Hawn’s career as an actress was booming, but she also managed to bring three children into the world, all of whom are in the same industry. Since then, Hawn formed a foundation aimed at educating the youth about academic performance through good health.
Geena Davis – a former model and an actress – is best known for her roles in “The Fly”, “Thelma & Louise”, and “Beetlejuice”. Davis’ career started in the 80s with her performance in “Tootsie”, but she later became a very successful model. In 2001, Davis married Reza Jarrahy, who is an Iranian-American surgeon. The couple has three children together, two of whom are fraternal sons. Before marrying Jarrahy, Davis was married to Richard Emmolo – an actor who starred with her in three different films, including “The Fly”.
Winona Ryder is considered one of the most iconic actresses of her generation, making her debut in “Lucas” (1986). Ryder is known to have played a variety of characters in all her films in the 80s and 90s, ranging from her role in “Mermaids” to Myra Gale Lewis in “Great Balls of Fire!”. The actress’ personal life also attracted attention of the media over the years. Her relationship with Johnny Depp, as well as the shoplifting incident, made an insane amount of appearances in the papers.
Toyah Willcox, an English actress and musician, spent over three decades building her career. Over the years, Willcox released more than 20 albums, starred in more than forty plays and films, and wrote two books. She is perhaps best known for her hit “It’s A Mystery”, released in 1981. In an interview in 2006, Willcox mentioned that her and her husband, Robert Fripp, lived very separate lives due to different schedules; for 19 years, the two saw each other for less than 12 weeks a year.
Meg Ryan, best known for her successful roles in romantic comedies throughout the 90s and 00s, rose to fame with her performance in “When Harry Met Sally” (1989). Throughout those two decades, Ryan was considered one of the most famous actresses, both nationally and internationally. In 1991, Ryan married actor Dennis Quaid; the two have a son together, but ended up separating in 2001. Ryan was also in an on-again off-again relationship with John Mellencamp, but the relationship ended in 2015.
Suzanne Somers became well-known after portraying the role of Chrissy Snow in “Three’s Company” and Carol Foster in “Step By Step”. After her success in television, Somers went on to write self-help books regarding hormone replacement therapy titled, “Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones”. Since then, she’s released two more autobiographies, four books about dieting, and one poetry collection. Somers has been married to host Alan Hamel since 1997, but before then was briefly married to her first child’s father, Bruce Somers.
Mary Louise Streep, known by her stage name Meryl Streep, is considered to be one of the best actresses of her generation. Streep played a variety of roles, from Margaret Thatcher to Anna Wintour in ‘Devil Wears Prada’, and is one of the six actors/actresses who won three or more competitive Oscars for acting. She also received 30 Golden Globe nominations, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, five New York Film Critics Circle Awards, two BAFTA Awards, and many more. Streep married sculptor Don Gummer in 1978, and the two have four children together.
Cher, an American musician, is considered by many to be the “Goddess of Pop”; the most inspiring thing is that she became an idol in the industry dominated by men. Cher also starred in plays and films, making her debut on Broadway as early as 1982. Throughout her long-lasting career, Cher received a Grammy Award, Emmy Award, Academy Award, and many others. Aside from her acting and singing careers, Cher became known as a fashion icon, promoting a “hippie” style.
Julie Goodyear played the much loved Bet Lynch on the hit UK soap opera Coronation Street throughout the 80s. She became famous for wearing outrageous leopard print coats and bleaching her hair bright blonde. She left the show in 1995 ,but made a brief appearance again in 2005, however the comeback wasn’t successful and only lasted a couple of episodes. Since Julie’s Coronation Street days, she has drastically slowed down her acting work and enjoys spending time with her husband.
Rick Astley’s famous hit “Never Gonna Give You Up” which was released in 1987, become a hit in 25 countries and no one could get the tune out of their heads! Astley even won the Brit Award for the Best British Single. Throughout the late 80s, Rick continued to be successful, releasing two albums that went on to be certified Platinum and Gold in the UK and USA respectively. Astley retired from music in 1993 at the age of 27.
We all know her as Alex Owens from Flashdance. Shockingly, Jennifer Beals’ dance moves were done by a stunt double. Sorry to break your hearts! She is also Bette Porter on Showtimes, The L Word. This actress has been in more than 50 times! She proved she is just as smart as she is beautiful after attending Yale University. She was inspired at a young age to become an actress after her high school performance in Fiddler on the Roof. Now she is married to Ken Dixon and has one child.
Aileen Quinn played the adorable orphan Annie in 1982. The child star was just 11 at the time and was catapulted to fame when the film became a huge success. Quinn even won Best Young Actress at the Young Artist Awards for her incredible performance. After appearing in Annie, Quinn turned her hand to singing and performing on Broadway. She also studied Spanish and Politics at Drew University. Today Aileen is a teacher in New Jersey.
Geri Jewell stared in the Facts of Life as Geri Tyler. Jewel made headlines with the role as she was the first person with a disability to have a regular role on a prime time series. She was the first actor with cerebral palsy to be on a TV series. Her autobiography, I’m Walking as Straight as I Can, refers to her having cerebral palsy and being a lesbian and was well received. She still has the same huge smile!
Keren Woodward was part of the popular British Pop Group, Bananarama. Throughout the 80s the group had much success including a US number one, 11 hits reach the Billboard Top 100 as well as a string of top 10 hits in the UK. Keren formed the group with her childhood friend Sara Dallin and shortly after Siobhan Fahey joined them. She recently criticized the UK charts claiming it is much more difficult for artists to have a hit.
Kim Wilde took the music world by storm with her debut single “Kids in America” in 1981. Throughout the 80s decade she had a string of top 10 hits and throughout her career she has had a whopping 25 singles reach the top 40 of the UK charts. Kim currently hosts a radio show in the UK and she has also become a keen landscape gardener, even releasing a couple of books on her projects.
Robin Wright gained attention nationwide for her role as Kelly Capwell on the NBC Daytime soap “Santa Barbara” (1984-1988). This kickstarted her transition into television, although she also took on roles in films such as “Forrest Gump” and “The Princess Bride”. Wright was married twice – once to Dane Witherspoon for 2 years, and the second time around to Sean Penn. The latter lasted for 14 years. At the moment, Wright is starring in the Netflix series “House of Cards” alongside Kevin Spacey.
Elisabeth Shue made it big in the 80s and starred in a number of films. Perhaps her best known roles are Ali Mills in The Karate Kid and Jennifer Parker in Back To The Future Part II and Back To The Future Part III. More recently the gorgeous actress played the lead role of Julie Finlay in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Later on this year she will be starring in Battle of the Sexes alongside fellow actors Emma Stone and Steve Carell.
Olivia d’Abo is best known for starring on the hit show The Wonder Years. She played Karen Arnold, Kevin’s rebellious and hippie sister for four seasons. She also guest starred in a Star Trek episode as well as playing villain Nicole Wallace in Law & Order: Criminal Intent in the early 2000’s. The stunning actress is also a musician and has released a couple of tracks. Recently, Olivia’s work has slowed down but we hope to see her make a comeback soon!
In the 80’s Danica had her big break when she played Winnie Cooper, Kevin Arnold’s girlfriend in the hit show The Wonder Years. Although Danica has since guest starred in a number of TV shows, she actually moved into a different field entirely – mathematics! Yes, really. Danica’s aim is to encourage teenage girls to enjoy and embrace math. She’s even written a number of books on the subject. The gorgeous actress also proved she’s got some moves when she recently came 6th on Dancing With The Stars.
Everyone knows Jane Wieldin as the drummer and backup singer from The Go-Gos, the all female new wave band. Her music career did not go super far after the 80s. She did have a stint on reality television and made an appearance on VH1s The Surreal Life. Like many artists, Weildin was inspired by The Beatles and The Monkees. Most recently she was in HoneyBee, a horror movie. Wieldin has been an animal rights activist for many years. She has worked with PETA.

She was also hugely popular as Valerie Malone on Fox’s Beverly Hills, 90210. Tiffani Amber Thiessen has had a steady acting career throughout her life. Few people know that Thiesan graduated as valedictorian at Valley Professional High School in L.A. She is married to Brady Smith and has two children.
No one can forget Lori Singer as Ariel Moore, the rebellious daughter of a preacher in Footloose. She was also the character, Julie Miller on the TV series Fame. Many do not know that besides being an actress, Singer is also a cellist. She was born into a family full of creative artists, musicians, and producers. For a while, Singer took a hiatus from acting. She returned in 2011 guest starring on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She produced an HBO documentary in 2013.
Nancy McKeon, an actress best known for her role as Jo Polniaczek on “The Facts of Life”, started her career by appearing in commercials and several episodes of “The Secret Storm” and “Another World”. Initially, McKeon was casted for “The Facts of Life” after the producers saw her in a Hallmark greeting card commercial. Since then, McKeon actually auditioned for the role of Monica Geller on the sitcom “Friends”, but the part went to Courtney Cox instead. McKon is married to Marc Andrus since 2003 and the couple has two daughters.
Dana Plato, an actress born in 1964, was known for her role as Kimberly Drummond on the television series “Diff’rent Strokes”. After the TV series was over, Plato found it increasingly difficult to establish herself as a serious actress due to her previous sitcom career. At some point, her struggle got to the point where she decided to get breast implants and model for Playboy just to break through. After years of struggling to land big acting jobs, battling with poverty and substance abuse, Plato passed away from an overdose at the tender age of 34.
Raquel Welch is an American actress who first rose to fame with her role in “Fantastic Voyage” (1966). After Welch’s portrayal of a minor role in “One Million Years B.C.”, she became an national sex symbol; although there were very few scenes, most of them were in a bikini. Welch went on to star in dozens of movies and was one of the first actresses to portray a female lead in a Western film. Raquel was married four times and has two children.
Tracy Gold is most well known for her role as Carol Seaver in Growing Pains. Child Stardom did not provide a lot of confidence and stability for the young actress. Gold severely struggled with anorexia and was unable to act in most of the final season of Growing Pains. The Growing Pains script repeatedly called for fat jokes toward the young actress at her expense. Gold was able to bare four children despite concern over damage to her reproductive organs after her battle with anorexia. Now she has maintained a normal weight and is much healthier.
Samantha Fox is the English pop singer, songwriter, and actress, most well known for being a topless model at the young age of 16. She was the most popular pin up girl from the 80s. Now she has appeared on many celebrity reality TV shows including Celebrity Wife Swap and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here. Fo’x long term partner, Stratton, sadly passed away after her long battle with cancer. Fox has advocated in LGBT campaigns.
