Pamela Bellwood – Claudia Blaisdel Carrington
Pamela Bellwood was a regular fixture in the first six seasons of Dynasty, portraying Claudia Blaisdel. However, she was eventually killed off by producers after Bellwood became pregnant during the 1985-86 season. After considering writing the situation into the story, they decided that it was too difficult and, after missing a bunch of episodes midway through the season, Claudia becomes more and more unstable, and sets her hotel room on fire. It was a tragic end for an iconic character.
Pamela Bellwood – Now
Since being killed off on the show, Bellwood hasn’t had the most fruitful of TV careers. She made the odd cameo on shows like The Twilight Zone, Murder She Wrote, and most recently, Criminal Minds. However, it’s Bellwood’s personal life that has been more successful. These days, she is married to photographer Nik Wheeler and as a result, is often credited as Pamela Belwood-Wheeler. But there is no denying that her finest hour is now a long distant memory.
John Forsythe – Blake Carrington
The patriarch of the show – John Forsythe’s portrayal of Blake Harrington was nothing short of legendary. Originally a strict, ruthless man, Harrington evolves over the course of the show into a more compassionate, benevolent family man. Forsythe was very much a jack of all trades, working as an actor, producer, teacher and a philanthropist during his 60-plus year career. But that wasn’t all; Forsythe also appeared on many talk shows and even hosted a handful of game shows.
John Forsythe – Now
After his time on Dynasty, Forsythe had some memorable roles in blockbuster movies. His most notable appearance came when he starred as the millionaire Charles Townsend, the “Charlie” of the 2000 reboot of Charlie’s Angels. He also appeared in the sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. However, he would eventually have to retire due to old age and on April 1, 2010, Forsythe died from pneumonia. What made his untimely passing even more tragic was that his widow died just five weeks later.
Kathleen Beller – Kirby Anders
Originally one of the Colbys, Kirby Anders was portrayed by actress Kathleen Beller from 1982 to 1984. However, it was before Dynasty that Beller truly made a name for herself. In 1974, she actually made a brief cameo in the classic mafia movie, The Godfather Part II. Then, she received a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the movie Promises In The Dark. She also made appearances on shows such as Hawaii Five-O and Barnaby Jones.
Kathleen Beller – Now
Beller had a string of appearances on other shows after her time on Dynasty was up. She made cameos on shows such as Murder She Wrote and even starred in films like Legacy and Time Trackers. Her personal life has been a little more eventful. Between 1980 and 1986, she was wed to actor Michael Holt. Then, in 1988, she married the love of her life, musician Thomas Dolby. The couple have three children and are still happily married to this day.
Terri Garber – Leslie Carrington
Leslie Carrington is undoubtedly one of the more minor characters on the show, having starred in only two seasons, seven and eight, to be precise. Before her break on Dynasty, Terri Garber came up in the TV industry having portrayed Allison Linden in the hit soap opera Texas in 1982. Two years later, she made her debut movie role in the action flick Toy Soldiers. But what happened to Garber after her time on Dynasty was up?
Terri Garber – Now
Garber’s career in TV was far from over, and after Dynasty, she got many more opportunities. These included roles in shows such as Murder She Wrote, Quantum Leap, and Midnight Caller. However, it was the 90s when the actresses success truly started to take shape. She became part of the main cast in two shows, Santa Barbara and General Hospital. After two failed marriages with Chris Hager and Frank Howson, Garber married her former high school drama teacher, William Roudebush, in 2013.
John James – Jeff Colby
Actor John James portrayed the love interest of Fallon Carrington, Jeff Colby. He also played the character in the Dynasty spin-off show, The Colbys. James ended up being nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of the character and spent six seasons on the show, before joining the spin-off show. However, once The Colbys was canceled, he returned to the main show and remained on it all the way until the series finale in 1989.
John James – Now
Since his time on the both Dynasty and The Colbys, John James has continued to pursue a career in acting and has starred in many shows. In 2006, he joined the cast of the soap opera All My Children as Jeff Martin and was in 32 episodes. He also had a recurring role on the soap opera As The World Turns as the character Rick Decker, which he appeared in for 14 episodes. In 2012, James’ daughter, Laura, won America’s Next Top Model.
Al Corley – Steven Carrington
For the first two seasons of Dynasty, it was Al Corley who portrayed one of the most interesting characters on the show, Steven Carrington. This is mainly because Steven is renowned being one of the first openly gay characters on American TV. However, it would take a while before Corley made the big time. When he was coming up in the 70’s, he was a doorman at Studio 54. It turns out that Corley left the show because he was against the character’s “ever-shifting [romantic] references.”
Al Corley – Now
Not only was he frustrated with the character’s changing preferences, Corley also complained about the creators not making Steven funny enough. It would prove to be a terrible career move though, as Corley struggled to find work elsewhere. Although starring in over a dozen movies after his time on Dynasty, they were all B-list movies. He had a brief relationship with pop star Carly Simon and has three children from a separate marriage. Nowadays, he lives in Los Angeles.
Gordon Thomson – Adam Carrington
For the majority of the series, it was Gordon Thomson who portrayed Adam Carrington, the main male villain of the show. Fuelled by jealousy, Adam added a layer of darkness that was integral to the show’s drama. Unfortunately, Thomson was unavailable to reprise the role of Adam in the Dynasty reunion miniseries. As a result, the character was recast with actor Robin Sachs taking the role instead. But it will be Gordon Thomson who most fans will always associate with the character.
Gordon Thomson – Now
After the end of Dynasty, Thomson was heavily involved in daytime shows. He became the third actor to play the character, Mason Capwell in the show Santa Barbara. Other shows that Thomson was involved included Passions, The Young and the Restless and Sunset Beach. The actor also made an appearance in the Academy Award-nominated Little Miss Sunshine. Then, on September 25, 2017, after keeping his personal life extremely private over the years, Thomson made the headlines when he came out as gay.
Billy Dee Williams – Brady Lloyd
Billy Dee Williams had already established himself as a Hollywood superstar after starring as scoundrel Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, in 1977 and 1983, respectively. Just a year later, he made his first appearance on Dynasty as the top executive Brady Lloyd. Williams, unsurprisingly, added a touch of class to the show with his suave style. However, he only ended up being a recurring character for one season.
Billy Dee Williams – Now
After Dynasty, Billy Dee hit the Hollywood jackpot once again when he won the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the cape crusader motion picture Batman in 1989. At 80 years of age, Billy Dee Williams is certainly in the twilight of his career. However, this hasn’t stopped him from getting on the dance floor. In 2014, he competed in Dancing With The Stars and in 2014, he lent his voice to portray a Lego version of Lando Calrissian in the award-winning The Lego Movie.
George Hamilton – Joel Abrigore
Decades after his Golden Globe-winning performance in Crime and Punishment U.S.A., George Hamilton ended up on Dynasty, portraying film director Joel Abrigore. His character ended up committing fraud with Sammy Jo and even arranged the kidnapping of Krystle Carrington. The truth is that Dynasty was a minor moment in a much bigger career, but Hamilton was certainly one of the biggest names to star in the Carrington and Colby family saga. But where is he now?
George Hamilton – Now
After his brief time on Dynasty came to an end, Hamilton starred in numerous other famous movies such as The Godfather Part III, Casper Meets Wendy, and Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles, to name a few. His reputation stretches so far and wide that the 2009 movie My One and Only is loosely based on his childhood spent on the road with his mother and brother, with actor Logan Lerman playing a George-esque character. He most recently starred in the movie The Congressman.
Michael Nader – Farnsworth “Dex” Dexter
Best known for portraying Farnsworth “Dex” Dexter, the third husband of Joan Collins’ Alexis Colby on Dynasty, Michael Nader brought a tenacity to the show that not many actors couldn’t emulate. Before his time on Dynasty, Michael Nader started his career in acting back in 1963 before finally landing his big role two decades later. In 1965, he was a part of TV show Gidget and also had a role in the musical movie Lost Horizon. He did not reprise his role for the Dynasty reunion.
Michael Nader – Now
One of Michael Nader’s most notable roles after his time on Dynasty came to an end was in the TV movie The Great Escape II: The Untold Story. It wouldn’t take long though before he returned to what he was best at – acting in soap operas. His most notable soap return following Dynasty was as Dimitri Marick in the show All My Children. He has also been in recent shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Cold Case.
Diahann Carroll – Dominique Deveraux
Not only did Diahann Carroll play the iconic character of Dominique Devereaux on Dynasty, but she also reprised her role in the spin-off show The Colbys. Before then, Carroll was a popular actress who appeared in movies such as Carmen Jones and Porgy and Bess, which were historically important for having black casts. Another show that put Carroll on the map before Dynasty was the 60s show, Julia. It was the first time a black woman starred in a lead TV role that wasn’t considered “stereotypical.”
Diahann Carroll – Now
Not only has Carroll been a huge player on the TV scene. She has also made her presence felt in theater, having received many awards and nominations for a variety of performances. Then, Carroll took her career in an unexpected direction when she had a voice role in the animated movie The Legend of Tarzan. She also made an appearance on Grey’s Anatomy. Carroll has been married a staggering four times. She has also done a lot of work in activism.
Geoffrey Scott – Mark Jennings
Although he wasn’t in as many episodes as some of the main characters, Geoffrey Scott still had an important role to play in the opening few seasons of Dynasty. He plays the role of Mark Jennings for the first two seasons and is the first husband of Linda Evans’ character, Krystle Carrington. However, Dynasty wasn’t the first career endeavor that put Scott on the acting map. He also had numerous roles on shows such as Where the Heart is, Dark Shadows and General Hospital, to name a few.
Geoffrey Scott – Now
Scott’s personal life has been full of twists and turns. Having married his high school sweetheart Tanya Thompson, the couple eventually got divorced after having a daughter together. And even though he ended up marrying Carol Scott afterward, they also got divorced. In a series of tragic events, Scott got seriously injured after being hit by a car. However, he has since turned things around and had two kids with his current wife, Catherine. The couple live in Colorado together.
Catherine Oxenberg – Amanda Carrington
Serbian-American actress Catherine played the character Amanda Carrington on Dynasty. However, she only played the role for two seasons before Karen Cellini took over the role in 1986 for the following 13 episodes. It turns out that Oxenberg is actually of royalty, being the daughter of the Princess of Yugoslavia. Oxenberg originally made a name for herself in 1982, using her royal experience when she starred as Princess Diana in the TV film The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana.
Catherine Oxenberg – Now
Ever since her time on Dynasty came to an end and she was replaced by Karen Cellini, Catherine Oxenberg has continued to act in a variety of mediums. She has starred in numerous movies such as Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf, The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation, and Watch Over Me, to name a few. She also had a role in the sci-fi cult classic Starship Troopers. Despite marrying Casper Van Dien, the couple ended up divorcing in 2015. However, they still work together for the non-profit Childhelp.
Bo Hopkins – Matthew Blaisdel
Arguably one of the more decorated actors to have appeared on Dynasty, Bo Hopkins has an impressive list of movies to his name. These include classics such as American Graffiti, The Wild Bunch and Midnight Express, to name a few. He starred in the first season of Dynasty as Matthew Blaisdel. Hopkins was also a seasoned regular on a variety of hit TV shows. These included the likes of Bonanza, Charlie’s Angels, and Murder, She Wrote. His filmography is absolutely incredible.
Bo Hopkins – Now
With over 100 movies and TV shows to his name in over four decades, Bo Hopkins’ illustrious career is impressive, to say the very least. Although the actor ended up taking a break for six years from the acting industry, Hopkins has recently starred in movies such as A Little Christmas Business and The Boys at the Bar. Hopkins has been married to Sian Eleanor Green since 1989 and the couple are still going strong to this very day.
Billy Campbell – Luke Fuller
The truth is that Billy Campbell didn’t do that much before landing his recurring role as Luke Fuller in Dynasty. He joined the show when it was number one on American TV and was the lover of Steven Carrington, which, at the time, was considered a risky creative decision from the showrunners. Not only did Campbell appear in an episode of Family Ties, but he also made an appearance in the 1981 film How Sleep the Brave, which is set during the War in Vietnam.
Billy Campbell – Now
Billy Campbell’s role as Detective Joey Indelli on the show Crime Story, was just one of many that he had after his time on Dynasty came to an end. He is also known for making appearances on shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Frasier, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, to name a few. Campbell is also renowned for his good looks. At the turn of the Millenium, the actor was listed in the “World’s Most Beautiful People” by People magazine.
Linda Evans – Krystle Grant Jennings Carrington
The wife of Blake Carrington and the mother of Sammy Jo, Krystle Carrington, was portrayed by the one and only, Linda Evans. She most notably became a star after her role in the Western show The Big Valley. She was one of the longest-serving characters on Dynasty, having first appeared in the pilot and dramatically leaving midway through the final season as Krystle is forced to go to Switzerland to carry out a high-risk operation to save her life.
Linda Evans – Now
The truth is that Linda Evans has lived a relatively low-key life since her time on Dynasty came to an end. She did reprise her role in the reunion miniseries. It wasn’t long before Evans retired from acting altogether. But in recent times, she has been somewhat of a reality show star, having won the British cooking program Hell’s Kitchen, with Michelin-star chef Marco Pierre White watching her every move. Also, Evans has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
Joan Collins – Alexis Colby
Probably the most iconic character in the entire show, Joan Collins portrayed the nefarious Alexis Colby. The character briefly appeared with her face unseen in the finale of season one, foreshadowing the impending horrors that she was about to inflict on the rest of the characters. The ex-wife of Blake Carrington, she is determined to raise hell. Collins’ career already took off in emphatic fashion, having starred in iconic movies such as The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing and Rally Round the Flag, Boys!
Joan Collins – Now
After starring nearly 200 episodes of Dynasty, Collins took a well-deserved hiatus at the turn of the 90s. But it wouldn’t take long before she returned to the limelight, making cameos in shows such as Roseanne, Will & Grace, and Rules of Engagement. She has also been at the forefront of many commercials, most recently, the hilarious ads for Snickers chocolate bars. Then, in 2015, she was given the ultimate honor when she was made a Dame by the Queen for her charitable services.
Pamela Sue Martin – Fallon Carrington Colby
Pamela Sue Martin is best known for playing Fallon Carrington Colby for the first four seasons of Dynasty. She was a fiery and intelligent woman, just like her father, Blake Carrington. But what is Pamela doing nowadays?
Pamela Sue Martin – Now
Martin left the show after the fourth season and was replaced by Emma Samms. Although she never got a bigger role than the one she had on Dynasty, she did make a handful of small cameos on some big shows such as That 70’s Show and The L Word. She has been heavily involved in the preservation of dolphins. As for her personal life, Martin has been divorced three times and has one son. She has suffered from interstitial cystitis.
Emma Samms – Fallon Carrington Colby
Emma Samms replaced Martin in 1984 and made the role of Fallon her own. She was originally in a recurring role but once again, the character became a part of the main cast from season 8 onwards. Born in London, England, Samms was originally a ballet dancer before turning to a career in acting after sustaining a hip injury. She also made a name for herself in shows such as General Hospital, playing the role of Holly Sutton.
Emma Samms – Now
Emma Samms has most recently starred in the low-budget action film Vendetta, which came out in 2013. She also starred in the medical TV show Casualty: Memory Games. With her cousin, Samms founded the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which aims to help children who are severely ill through enjoyable mediums such as entertainment, trips, and educational activities. In 2016, Samms was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire for her charitable services and helping children who were terminally ill.
Jack Coleman – Steven Carrington
In order to write Corley out of the show appropriately, creators replaced him and recast Steven Carrington with the actor Jack Coleman. In order to excuse the change in appearance, the show explained that Steven had undergone plastic surgery after falling victim to an oil rig explosion. Before Dynasty, Coleman made a name for himself on the soap opera Days Of Our Lives, portraying the character Jake Kositchek. He remained on the show until the ninth season.
Jack Coleman – Now
There is no denying that Coleman was one of the most successful stars after Dynasty came to an end. The actor has had a number of lucrative roles in the last decade. These include his role as Noah Bennet in the sci-fi drama Heroes, as well as the Senator Robert Lipton in the hit sitcom The Office, which he starred in for three seasons. Things are going well in his personal life, as he is happily married to actress Beth Toussaint and having a daughter together, Tess.
Heather Locklear – Sammy Jo Carrington
One of the most recognizable faces from Dynasty has to be the one and only Heather Locklear. The actress joined the cast in season two to portray the role of Sammy Jo Dean Carrington. She is the niece of Krystle Carrington and (spoiler alert) marries and has a child with Steven Carrington. The actress was such a hit with fans that she stayed on the show until the very end, even starring in the miniseries reunion.
Heather Locklear – Now
There is no denying that Locklear’s career and personal life have been very hit-and-miss throughout the years. One of her darkest periods came while she was married to a couple of rock stars – Tommy Lee and then Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. It is no secret that Locklear has been battling some dark demons over the years, but that hasn’t stopped her from starring in hit movies such as The Perfect Man, Uptown Girls, and Scary Movie 5.
