These Unreal Hacks Did Everything But Ensure Security

Perhaps these people live in questionable places that require higher security measures than others. Another option is that the individuals work in sketchy areas that make one feel unsafe walking alone at night. Either way, these hilarious flunks of security are more than just glitches.

Ready Or Not, Here I Come

If these security guards were playing a game of hide and seek, someone needed to tell them they have gotten they rules all wrong – one person is meant to count to ten, while the others are supposed to run and hide. Either way, these security guards should not be playing games during working hours, as the public depends on their professionalism for their own safety. We are not sure how these guards were given this position, but the screening process needs to be more strict.

Mind Tricks

We’ve all been there – it’s bright and early on a Monday morning, and for some reason, we just can’t get out of bed. Maybe the comforting silk sheets are to blame, or perhaps it is the fact we went out for drinks with friends the previous night. Still, as understanding as we can be, saying we feel safe walking into this mall knowing the security guard is sound asleep would be a lie. It’s almost as if the ill attempt to put up the security guard poster makes it worse.

You May Not

Despite common tourist belief, the Queen’s Guards in Britain are not purely ceremonial but are actually entirely operational soldiers. A sentry is only meant to be on duty “at their post” for a two-hour period, but at this time, the guard is not allowed to make a sound or move an inch. The reads: “you may not eat, sleep, smoke, stand easy, sit or lie down during your tour of duty”. This poor guy couldn’t take it anymore, so he collapsed to the floor as his body betrayed him.

A Word Of Caution

Rachel just received the call that she was hired as a temp in a well-known attorney’s office when she reached her car in the mall’s parking lot and found out someone broke one of her windows. Luckily, she had nothing expensive in the backseat of the car, so she decided it was better off to pick her wins and loses. Still, she didn’t have enough money to get the window fixed since she only just got hired, so instead, she decided to put up this sign.

security

Gateway Decor

While it’s common to put up a small gate that’s easy to climb over in some neighborhoods, those gates are meant for decoration or making sure the dog doesn’t run into the road. However, this regular-sized door is both out of place – and ridiculous.

security

Thinking Outside The Box

It’s been proven that when people know they are being watched, they are less likely to commit a crime. While not all perpetrators go through extreme measures of breaking the law, sometimes being caught in the act on camera can also translate into generally feeling embarrassed knowing that someone has seen you doing something you never wanted them to see. This cardboard-made box, however, is not fooling anyone, which is why it would’ve been better to leave that sign and have the offender wondering where it is.

security

The Old Ball And Chains

Poor Ben had his Toyota stolen too many times to count. He could not wrap his head around why, but it was clear he had to do something as the insurance company kept raising its annual fees, voicing concerns about how his residential area was too risky to insure. Well, desperate times call for desperate measures, and this metal chain lock surrounding the car and wheels are the perfect example of that. We hope untying the car didn’t take too long.

security

Friends – Out

Ben had known better than to enter through a door or gate without being invited inside, which is why he stood outside and waited for his friend to realize he’s outside his house. Unfortunately for Ben, his friend had no way of knowing he was out there, since Ben never knocked on the door. It is safe to say that this particular gate might not have kept the burglars and unwanted people out, but it definitely succeeded in keeping friends out.

security

Eyes On The Screen

Although security cameras do act as successful means of alerting others to behave properly, this definitely does not mean you are constantly being watched. For example, just take a look at the couple of guards in the picture below. They can clearly be seen playing Wii, a video game console released by Nintendo in 2006, instead of watching over whatever it is they are meant to guard. Not only are they preoccupied with the competitive game, but they don’t even have one screen with the actual guarded footage on it.

security

Is This A Game?

We certainly hope this guard is actually an actor posing to be a security officer at an escape room and not a real policeman, as this spontaneous snooze could be very dangerous for the safety of whoever is close by. In the physical adventure game titled “escape room,” players are meant to solve a series of puzzles and riddles all while using clues, hints, and strategies. In this scenario and surrounding, it would make a lot more sense for a guard to fall asleep.

security

Chained For Life

If you do not want your motorcycle stolen, perhaps it would be better to chain it to something that is not easy to get out of. Say someone did plan on stealing this bike, all they would have to do is bring the chain above the small pillar and cut off the chain. In fact, the hardest task about breaking the bike free would be cutting off the chain, by which means the pillar could have been left alone as it was.

Not Going Anywhere

After working for a year straight with limited to no luxury expenses, Johnny was finally able to purchase the car of his dreams. Although it was not the newest one on the shelf, Johnny always dreamt of owning a sports car and cruising the streets with not a care in the world. Since he accomplished his goal which was far-fetched for so long, there was no way he was going to let anyone steal his beloved red set of wheels.

security

In Case You Forget

Edward was deep into his 70’s, which could explain why he kept forgetting the door code for his office. Although it is understandable, having the door code printed not once, but twice, and placed on the doorknob and above the code lock kind of defeats the purpose of having it there in the first place. Edward was better off saving the code as a contact number on his phone, but seeing as how he was not too sure on how to work that either, this seemed preferable.

security

Uncrackable

Jim and Katy were always up to no good whenever their parents were out, which is why the parents decided to play a little game with their kids – they made a chain out of paper clips and drew a lock and key on post-its and placed it on the kitchen cupboards’ handles. Katy and Jim were told that if they were able to unlock that lock, they were allowed to eat anything from that cupboard – but when they opened it, it turned out the cupboard had been emptied.

security

Eggscuse Me

Martha was known as ‘The Old Lady From The Purple House’, but that was not the only nickname she was given. After too many kids thought it would be funny to egg Martha’s house, she gave up on trying to educate the youth of the neighborhood and put a lock on the gate leading to her backyard and house. However, Martha was no whiz when it came to home improvement, which is why she ended up with this highly ambitious solution.

security

You Had One Job

Positioned right outside the school, this boom gate was meant to stop high school kids from leaving school grounds without permission. However, as it is easy to see, the gate does not really block anyone from getting in or out. We would love to understand what was the initial thought of the person who placed the boom barrier there since the logical one should have been, “could this possibly be too short?” If not, they should consider another professional path, perhaps.

security

Best Alarm System

Whoever lives in this house thought that someone breaking in would most likely open the door all the way through, which is why they placed the horn on the wall in a way that would honk loudly when it is hit by the knob. While this is definitely a lot cheaper than getting a state of the art alarm system, we highly doubt that it is as effective. If anything, this could be used as a prank for the horrible roommate who always slams the door open when entering a room.

security

Who’s The Boss Now?

Being the boss of many employees may sound like a lot of fun, but for Bill, this simply meant there were more people than he was accustomed to that he had to watch over. As if having two toddlers at home was not enough, it seemed his rowdy workers were not keen on paying much attention to his instructions either, which is why he positioned this security camera outside his door. Little did he know he was not going to get away with something like that as easily as he hoped.

security

Better Safe Than Sorry

You don’t need to be the type of person that constantly follows the news to know that some people scam ATM machines by inserting a card copying instrument, and this one seems very sketchy considering the duct tape covering it. We would not be quick to insert our credit card into this machine, nor would we trust the bills that come out of it. In general, when it comes to dealing with finances, it is better to be safe than sorry.

security

Clowning Around

Whoever placed this security camera here was probably keen on keeping an eye out for possible trespassers, but had no idea that a breach in security would be so easy to pull off – especially when using something as festive and easy to get a hold on, such as a balloon! It is safe to say that this simple act of mischief could have caused a lot of damage, but there is no denying that the prankster behind it was a lively one.

security

Good Intentions

Sometimes when you have a goal set in mind, it is hard to look past the obstacles that head your way. That is probably why the person who put up this gate thought a little warning sign reading “Electric fence” would be enough to put off intruders from entering his backyard. However, if he would have given the matter a little bit more thought, he would have realized that there is absolutely no logic in hanging such a sign on a gate that is clearly made of wood.

security

Watching The Watcher

Instead of constantly feeling as though they are being watched, the actors in the latest production of a play running in the Victoria theater decided to play a prank on the bureaucratic measures taken to secure the theater and positioned a security camera right under the existing one, as if to say that they are watching the watchers. We doubt the second camera actually works, but the artistic society is known to be of a rather rebellious nature.

security

Cutting Class

Almost every kid has skipped class once or twice in their life, which is why schools are usually very strict when it comes to cutting classes and leaving school grounds without permission. This school made sure to enforce the concept of locking its gate when the clock strikes 8 am sharp but did not take into consideration the minor glitch – that is that anyone could easily break into the school, considering the staircase handrail is not very hard to climb over.

security

Hop On Over

We can imagine the number of times this place has been broken into, and if the number of locks hint toward the accurate number, we are going to go with at least 10. Putting the dead giveaway aside, one cannot help but wonder what is hiding behind this wooden gate that is so secretive. As if the numerous locks do not put off unwanted visitors enough as it is, there is always that sign reading there’s no parking in front of the gate.

security

Sticky Situation

We hate to think of the poor people who had gone number two in the privacy of this bathroom stall, only to realize there was no toilet paper available for use. Pushing any mental image of what they had to resolve to do in order to get out of that sticky situation (pun not intended) is hard enough as it is, especially if it led to this measure of securing toilet paper would be available for use at all times.

security

What Are You Lookin’ At?

The graffiti artist held responsible for this wall alteration and chosen text reading “what are you looking at?” did not have to have his creative juices flowing when deciding what to write on the wall. As they say, the writing was on the wall, which was especially evident since the security camera is pointing at – well, nothing. This is as if to say measures were taken to secure this location, but what started off as a good idea should have been better planned out.

security

Cutting In Line Not Optional

In some countries, you do not really need much more than a sign asking that everyone would please stand in a line before proceeding, as it is both common courtesy and the social norms to follow the rules. However, other places need stricter reinforcement, and if this picture was taken somewhere where people would rather cut in line than wait for hours on end, we doubt the so-called security measure taken here would do any good.

security

String Of Security

We hope for the poor girl who tied the bow that those attending her gym do not know how lockers actually work. It is seriously questionable that something as easy to untie as a piece of string will put off thieves from checking out the contents of the locker. If anything, that bold, red piece of string could trigger a perpetrator’s curiosity, as if it states there is something of value inside. Be careful what you wish for.

security

Let’s Play A Game

Either the resident of this house has a secret soft spot when it comes to solving mazes, or they are absolutely terrified that someone would break into their house and steal something of great importance. We can understand the need to feel secure, but isn’t this a little bit extreme? Surely, if this helps the person in question sleep soundly at night, by all means, they should install whatever they want. If not an extreme security measure, this could be a fun way to pass time.

security

Tricked Into It

The person who got sold this supposed lock must be new to the whole gym and locker experience, as no one in their right mind would excuse it for a lock. If anything, people passing by the locker might make fun of the “heavy security” measures taken and take a sneak peek into the locker, to see what exactly was so important to lock away. It is a good thing most people would probably move past this odd sight.

security

Lawbreakers, Please Wait

If there was ever a sign reading “This is the best time to rob a place of business”, this would be it. We highly doubt people were standing patiently, waiting for security to come back until they continued with their shopping. If anything, it would be better to stay far away from a place featuring a sign such as this, as we would fear someone looking for an easy way to get cash would use this valuable piece of information for their advantage.

security

Stay Out

Although it might seem as if this shot was taken straight out of a horror film where some poor soul was trying to escape getting caught by whoever was chasing them, this isn’t the case. In all honesty, the truth is a lot funnier – this picture was taken by students who did not want their chemistry teacher to show up to class and give them the scheduled test, so they locked her outside. They ensured her they’d eventually let her in – when it’s too late to hand out the tests.

security

Baaaaht Out

The nineteenth-century nursery rhyme of “Mary Had A Little Lamb” is anything but alarming, which is why we can understand the reasoning behind putting up a sign with a more valid threat to possible intruders. Can you imagine if the sign read “WARNING, security lamb”? This would not intimidate anyone in the least. If anything, it would probably move more people to break into the place of residence, as they would want to pet the adorable lamb staring from the other side of the gate.

security

Pick Your Battles

This picture presents a perfect example of why you should never annoy the people you employ. Stuart ticked off the security firm he hired to place security cameras all around the building he owned, which resulted in having all his prepaid security cameras positioned in the same area – but facing different sides. It is safe to say that these cameras have absolutely no impact on those intending to break the law and into the building – if anything, they are a cause for ridicule for all who pass by it.

Security Optional

Talk about a security breach, clearly whoever wanted to get past this roadblock was not going to think twice about driving around it, since the path is merely paved in the grass from the previous perpetrators. In fact, it almost seems as though it is the least common way, having to wait for someone to open the boom barrier. Therefore, instead of wasting time, this option seems like a valid one – at least one that is practiced repeatedly.
