See Inside Reese Witherspoon’s Lavish New California Estate

Californian city Brentwood is pretty popular when it comes to celebs. Located in the Westside of Los Angeles, the area lies at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains, and is broken up into residential sub-districts. Brentwood boasts plenty of great eateries, and is home to a large amount of celebs.

Recently, Detroits Pistons player Blake Griffin purchased a second home there, and ex-Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff did the same. Other famous residents include Dr. Dre, Tom Brady, and LeBron James.

When it comes to English country-style manors, there aren’t specific rules in terms of architecture. Rather, this is a style that evokes the grand houses dotted around the English countryside. Reese Witherspoon’s elegant English country-style manor was built in 1993, and sits on three acres of private land.

The home has a gorgeous entryway, complete with a stone façade and lattice patterned windows. In total, this residence has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, over 9,504 square feet. For this gem, the actress paid $16 million.

Importantly, these images show Reese Witherspoon’s Brentwood mansion before she moved in and redecorated. What we’re seeing is the bare bones that Witherspoon built upon, and not a reflection of her personal style.

This image shows the home’s huge foyer area, rendered in dark brown hardwood and white. With high ceilings and exposed wooden beams, this space flows well to an upstairs landing. To go with the English country-style architecture, interiors would be somewhat eclectic, involving mixed fabrics and collectibles.

Again, this listing picture shows the previous tenant’s décor choices, and doesn’t give us any insight to Witherspoon’s interior décor style. As shown here, this large living room has space for multiple sets of tables, chairs, and couches.

With a fireplace and large windows, this living area has the potential to be either light and airy, or warm and cozy. With hardwood floors and in-set lights, this space is brimming with potential.

When we think of a wood-paneled library, all we can see is Belle from Beauty and the Beast swinging around book-lined shelves on her wooden ladder. We like to imagine Reese Witherspoon does the same once in her new Brentwood mansion.

As seen in this picture, the home’s wood-paneled library also doubles as a media room or cozy living area. With plenty of soft looking chairs to snuggle into, this room has all sorts of nooks and crannies for getting into a good book.

In a 2017 interview, Reese Witherspoon commented that as a Southern woman, she likes to entertain. In terms of décor, the actress likes to create a contemporary Southern table by mixing “beautiful, classic china that came from your grandmother” with “modern glassware.” She commented, “It just turns everything around.”

Naturally, as someone who likes to entertain, Reese Witherspoon’s kitchen is fit for a team of chefs. The picture on top shows the kitchen when Witherspoon purchased the home, complete with a large white kitchen island, multiple ovens, and those ubiquitous wooden beams.

Witherspoon and her family purchased this home in March 2020, but the information wasn’t made public. This means that the celeb has had lots of time to decorate, some of which can be glimpsed through Instagram shots like these ones.

Since people have found out that Reese Witherspoon and her family moved into their new home, they’ve been trying to get a peak of the home via social media. This image seems to show the actress and son Tennessee doing some school work at the kitchen table.

If this is the case, Witherspoon has added a large, wooden table to the kitchen, and added black accents to the furniture and appliances. From this image, it looks classy but also fun.

Here’s a peak at Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth’s bedroom before it underwent some serious redecorating (we’re guessing). This stunning space has high ceilings, hardwood floors, and even a roaring fireplace. Not completely visible here is the small sitting room area that’s attached to this bedroom.

As is standard with any home of this size, this master suite comes with an oversized walk-in closet and built in shelves. With a celebrity closet like Witherspoon’s, there needs to be plenty of space for shoes, accessories and jewelry.

And here it is. In the top image is the walk-in closet prior to Reese Witherspoon moving in. We have absolutely no doubt that the star will have taken her closet organization very seriously, and personally, we’d love a tour.

In previous homes, Witherspoon organized her closet according to the shows and movies she’s starred in. The bottom image shows the section of her closet dedicated to Big Little Lies. In an interview with Southern Living, the star admitted she loves getting dressed up.

With nine bathrooms in total, no guest in Reese Witherspoon’s home will ever find themselves lacking somewhere to go. The California mansion’s master bath – shown in the top image – has dual vanities, a built-in soaking tub, and plenty of space for storing lotions, potions and fancy candles.

In the bottom picture, we see another bathroom, designed in a similar all white color palette. Though these aren’t decorated to Witherspoon’s particular taste, these rooms are amazing foundations on which to build.

Alas, by scrolling though Reese Witherspoon’s social media accounts, we can spot some glimpses of her decorated home. This shot of the actress and her French bulldog gives us a glance at one of the home’s many bathrooms. The star seems to have opted for exposed copper pipes, and a white tiled, industrial look.

From this image, it seems that Witherspoon might have done away with some of her new home’s hardwood floors. The color palette in this snap looks very light and bright.

In these two images, we see more of the stairs and landing area. As these were taken prior to Witherspoon moving into the home, they still show the design preferences of the previous tenant. However, the high ceilings and lighting fixtures mean this space will look stunning regardless of how it’s decorated.

For a home of this size, it’s standard to have accommodations for live-in staff. This Brentwood property has two staff suites, as well as four more family bedrooms.

Before we proceed any further, it’s time to meet Reese Witherspoon’s herd of dogs. On the top left is new addition, black Labrador Major, and below him is beloved bulldog, Lou. On the top right we have two former pets – Pepper the French Bulldog, and Nash the German Shepherd – posing with Hank the chocolate Labrador.

Finally, on the bottom right, we have French bulldog Minnie Pearl, and Witherspoon’s daughter’s rescue dog, border collie cross, Benji. Now that’s a lot of dogs!

As we’ve seen already, most of the rooms on the main floor of Reese Witherspoon’s home have French doors. This means that the star can open them up and enjoy the California air flowing through her home. Alternatively, she can go right outside and enjoy the patio.

In these images, taken from Witherspoon’s Instagram, the star enjoys her home alongside her French bulldog puppy, Minnie Pearl. Just a quick question – is it wrong to be jealous of a dog?

It’s pretty standard for California mansions to come with a swimming pool, but Reese Witherspoon is no standard person. Rather than have a chlorine pool like most folks, Witherspoon’s Brentwood home has a saltwater pool and spa. Apparently, saltwater pools are gentler on clothing, skin and hair than chlorine pools, and have softer water.

Surrounding the pool, Witherspoon’s property boasts lush landscaped lawns and gorgeous gardens. Full size trees grow around the edge of the area, making the space feel more like a park than a garden.

Naturally, most celebrities want privacy when it comes to their homes. After all, who wants to wave to a celebrity tour bus as you’re enjoying your morning espresso? Well, thankfully, Reese Witherspoon’s Brentwood mansion is one of the most private properties on the West side of Los Angeles.

The residence lies within a canyon, on a private road, and behind a huge gate. Amongst the surrounding nature, the three acre home is tucked away where no-one can see it.

We haven’t seen much of Reese Witherspoon’s personal interior décor style yet, but this picture shows us some of the Reese touches we expect. In this shot, posted to the star’s Instagram account, the Legally Blonde actress sits at a desk topped with only a laptop, an orchid, and a seriously oversized ‘R’ notebook.

Behind the actress, we see her favoured French doors, and a bookshelf with photographs, and must-reads. As well as being a working actress, Reese Witherspoon founded Type A Films, and Hello Sunshine production companies.

Since Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth purchased their new Brentwood home in March 2020, they’ve had to spend a lot of time indoors. Thankfully, Witherspoon is a big fan of reading – so much so that she founded her own Instagram book club.

Each month, the actress chooses a woman-centered story, and ‘Reese’s Book Club’ discuss it online. Speaking about her love for reading, the actress has commented, “I get crazy in a bookstore. It makes my heart beat hard because I want to buy everything.”

You may have noticed in Reese Witherspoon’s snapshots so far, that her Brentwood home contains a lots of blue and white. This color combination is Witherspoon’s signature look, and is inspired by her grandmother’s blue and white china. In this image of the family celebrating Christmas in 2020, you can see ornamental China plates displayed on the wall.

Likewise, the windows of this room are dressed with cream and blue patterned colors. Now that’s the Reese Witherspoon we expect.

And while we’re discussing blue and white, we’ll also draw your attention to Reese Witherspoon’s love of embroidered and patterned fabrics. As you can see from these Instagram snaps, the star enjoys helping her son on an oversized blue and cream couch, and reading on a navy and white striped outdoor chair.

In fact, Reese Witherspoon likes fabrics so much that she collects antique linen and ornate vintage embroidery. With that sort of collection, it’s no wonder her home is covered in gorgeous materials.

With a love for blue patterned china plates and couch pillows, it’s no wonder that Reese Witherspoon also has blue-toned floral wallpaper. This picture, taken in the star’s Brentwood home, shows light wood furniture and a cane-back chair. The actress’s large “Woof y’all” mug in this shot is part of her own line of products.

Overall, Reese Witherspoon’s general aesthetic is Southern, feminine and a little bit playful. With pops of color and unusual patterns, her home is both classic and contemporary.

Interior décor fans went wild when Reese Instagram posted this picture of her son’s reading nook online. The nautical nook has nods of the sea – including the framed sailboat picture, and embroidered sailboat pillow – but isn’t overwhelmingly blue.

Rather, this adorable alcove is painted in a neutral color, and topped with a quilted, or matelassé, mattress. The blue and green floral pattern doesn’t distract from the area, and actually works to add depth. Of course, this nook is finished off with plenty of books.

With a rather large amount of dogs in her home, it’s perhaps no surprise that Reese Witherspoon’s pups are allowed to hang out on the furniture. While some people can think of nothing worse, the actress and producer doesn’t seem to mind dog hairs on her antique fabrics.

The Walk the Line star posted this picture of Minnie Pearl to her Instagram, revealing a gorgeous blue and cream patterned couch. We’re particularly fond of the bright orange patterned pillow resting on top.

Like many people in 2020, Reese Witherspoon ended up having to homeschool her child. As many other parents discovered, not all kids want to sit in front of a screen all day. In fact, lots of them want to run around, climb trees, and hang off surfaces like a bat.

In this picture posted to her Instagram account, Witherspoon joked, “Home school is going great.” At least we know the star has super sturdy surfaces in her home – perfect for this Spider-Man in training.

Reese Witherspoon has owned many properties, one of which was her romantic Ojai ranch. The 7 acre home was actually the location of Witherspoon and Toth’s wedding in 2011. This property had four bedrooms, a swimming pool, gardens, a barn, and horse stables.

The Ojai home – around 75 miles north of L.A – cost $5.8 million, and appeared in Elle Décor magazine. As you can see, this home included a striking alcove underneath a wrought iron staircase, and stunning 19th-century leather chairs.

Reese Witherspoon’s Ojai ranch was remodeled and designed by British designer Kathy Ireland. This image shows Ava and Deacon’s childhood bedrooms, each designed with great detail.

On top, we see Deacon’s antler-filled room, and the familiar patterned pillows seen around Witherspoon’s homes. This room boasts an Italian mirror, an antique chair, and an original built in bed. Ava’s room is pretty is pink, with an 1830s Swedish table, a 1920s tole chandelier, and a vintage chair. And of course – more pillows!

As a proud southern woman, Reese Witherspoon has owned several properties in Tennessee. In 2014, the Academy Award winner purchased this 1.75 acre home in the Oak Hill neighborhood of Nashville for $3.3 million.

This southern manor home had four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and 6.5 acres worth of land. Apparently, the actress decorated the majority of the house, which explains its light and playful feel. These images show a hallway and a sitting room in the home, each with wooden floors and white walls.

Also in 2014, Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth purchased a $12.7 million residence in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of California. The two story, 10,000 square foot home had five bedrooms, an infinity pool, and backyard terraces. A fan of her privacy, Witherspoon erected a huge hedge, and a guard shack for a security detail.

The impressive, traditional East Coast style home was designed by architect Ken Ungar. Witherspoon and Toth sold this property in 2020 for $17 million to AutoZone heiress Robin Formanek.

As well as her acting and producing careers, Reese Witherspoon also founded her own clothing line in 2015. The range is named Draper James, a reference to both of her grandparents. As you might have guessed, Draper James is all about southern flair, led by Witherspoon’s unique style.

The brand’s first store was in Nashville, Tennessee (where else?), and the second in Dallas, Texas. Featuring many products adorned in southern slang, Draper James is now also in Kentucky and Georgia.

Draper James stores are decorated to absolute perfection, with plenty of Reese Witherspoon’s preferred patterns and colors. Speaking with Architectural Digest about the store, the actress commented, “I wanted the store to embody the graciousness of southern culture with traditional elements like wallpaper and moldings, but also have a contemporary feel with light fixtures and art.”

Even more than that, the actress said, “It was important that the store felt like people were walking into my own home.” We’d certainly like to live there!

One of the television series produced by Reese Witherspoon is, Get Organized with The Home Edit. Hosted by closet organizers Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, the reality show follows the pair as they satisfyingly rearrange celebrity closets.

Reese Witherspoon appeared on the show’s first episode, claiming, “This is my dream dream dream project that you guys would come and help me organize.” Below, you can see the star’s perfectly arranged Legally Blonde wardrobe. We’re obsessed! In the episode, Witherspoon also admits to loving blue, white, and wallpaper.

Here’s another few snaps of the inside of one of Reese Witherspoon’s prior properties. These pictures were taken inside Zuma Ranch, the Malibu farmhouse the actress recently sold. After turning over her Pacific Palisades home for over $17 million, the star sold this property for $6.7 million.

This 1950s-era ranch has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a guest house, a screening room, and an art studio. It was previously used as a wedding venue, and is now owned by heiress Meg Haney.

In these pictures of Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth’s former Malibu home, we see yet more evidence of the actress’s design touches. As well as striking contemporary art (what’s better than an Andy Warhol?), this room has simple, white painted walls.

The living room and dining area shown in these images of the same room have plenty of gorgeous natural light, and the light fixture adds even more charm. We particularly like the chevron patterned, neutral rug.

Throughout her career, Reese Witherspoon has shown no signs of slowing down. In fact, the actress, producer, and clothing line owner seems to thrive on creative projects. The actress is currently producing and starring in The Morning Show, and Little Fires Everywhere.
