There are very few industries that do exclusive collectibles as well as the auto industry. Like any collectible item, rarity makes something exceptionable expensive. When it comes to cars, even the incredibly wealthy can have a hard time getting the keys to one of these 17 elite vehicles.
Jaguar XKR 75
Jaguar engines are known as some of the best in the supercar industry. The Jaguar XKR 75 is no exception. The beauty was created in 2010 to commemorate the automaker’s 75th anniversary, and appropriately limited to a total of 75 units. With a top speed of 174 mph, it may not be as quick as some of the other models on this list. However, the model is a limited edition with a lowered ride height and increase torque. It also sold for close to $135,000 US dollars.
Lexus LFA
One of the least pricey speed machines on the list, the Lexus LFA goes for around $375,000. They are built by hand with one engineer responsible for crafting its V10 engine. The luxury sports machine can reach a speed of over 200 mph. But, if you want to test drive it, you’ll probably have to go to a special dealer. Only 20 are produced each month. In order to own one, individuals must be evaluated by the company first. The evaluation asks interested drivers what cars they own, where they live, and other criteria that the company deems necessary.
Tramontana
The Tramontana is named after a strong wind the comes from the mountains in Spain and Italy. Its name is a strong reflection of its performance. The Spanish vehicle comes in a 600 horsepower V10 engine or a 550 horsepower V12 engine. It can reach speeds of up to 200 mph, but you probably won’t want to take it on road trips. Models are similar to the cockpit style of small planes with one or two small seats available. Only 12 are produced per year, for each month in the calendar. They go for $700,000, and each has a unique verse of poetry that is used to identify it.
Aston Martin One-77
The British auto manufacturer, Aston Martin, only made 77 units of the One-77. When it was released at the Concorso d’Eleganza Ville d’Este in 2009, it won the design award for Concept Cars and Prototypes. At 220 mph, it became the fastest Aston Martin model available. In 2012, all 77 were sold for over $2 million. It has been featured in racing video games and is reportedly used by the Dubai Police Department.
Zenvo ST1
The newcomer Danish company Zenvo Automotive envisioned building a truly unique hypercar, and the Zenvo ST1 is definitely that. It has had an interesting release history too, making an eventful appearance on Top Gear. The show criticized the car for breaking down, being slow, and catching on fire during filming. However, that hasn’t stopped buyers of the 15 total units from throwing down nearly $2 million to get one. Each one is handcrafted and designed to fit the owner. Plus, it can hit a reported 233 mph and go from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
Ferrari LaFerrari
There are only 499 of Ferrari’s LaFerrari in the world, and each costs a whopping $1.13 million. However, these are so exclusive that even if you have a million to blow on a luxury sports car, it is still incredibly difficult to get your hands on one. In order to buy the LaFerrari, you must be invited by the company and given the opportunity first.
Pininfarina Ferrari Sergio
The Pininfarina Ferrari Sergio is an unusual one to be on this list. Not because it isn’t exclusive, but because the exact price for it is not yet known. It is named after the Pininfarina founder, Sergio. The concept supercar is being built as a collaborative project between Pininfarina and Ferrari, so we can imagine that the price will be luxurious. Especially, with only six models planned and buying on an invite-only basis, this will be a car meant for the elite.
Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster
Pagani specializes in building fast, elite supercars. The company is Italian but was founded by Argentinian, Horacio Pagani. Its Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is one of its most exclusive models produced. There are only five units available. If you are from the United States, good luck getting one, because it is illegal. Bypassing the legal restrictions still wouldn’t make it any easier to own one of these. All five of the $1.8 million dollar supercars sold before they were even built.
Hennessey Venom GT
If you have a need for speed, the Hennessey Venom GT is your dream car. However, you may only be able to drive it in your dreams. Only 29 are planned for production, 16 of which have been sold already. It claims the title of fastest production car in the world at a recorded speed of 270.4 miles per hour. It also boasts an impressive 1,500 horsepower V8 engine, and can go from zero to 60 in two seconds. The Hennessey Venom GT goes for over $1 million━if you can manage to find one for sale.
Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster and the even rarer, roofless counterpart, the Coupe, are some of the most sought after gems in the exclusive car market. The high-tech design may make owners feel like they are cruising around in the pimped-out Batmobile. Both will cost you a Bruce Wayne price too, however. The new models sold for $4.5 million, but you might have a hard time finding either one. There are only nine Roadsters produced, triple the amount of Coupes. Plus, that price was new. A recent report listed a used one going for a selling price of $7.4 million.
Lamborghini Reventón
Another Lamborghini masterpiece, the Reventón can reach speeds of 220 mph and is built with aeronautics inspiration. They all have the same sleek, gray exterior color. When the last model was sold in 2008, the ticket price was close to $2 million. Only 20 units exist, making it one of the most exclusive rides in the world.
Koenigsegg Trevita
Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg created the Trevita specifically for exclusive car enthusiasts. The maximum top speed can compete with some of the others on this list at an impressive 254 mph. But, that’s not its main selling point. The word Trevita means “three whites” in Swedish. There were exactly three Trevitas sold to buyers for $2 million each. The company describes the design of it as comparable to thousands of tiny white diamonds sparkling in the sunlight, which is where the white part comes in.
Bugatti Veyron
Bugatti is a leader when it comes to making exclusive cars. One example of that can be found in the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang, of which there are only 5 in the world. The speed is comparable to the Trevita at 253 mph, however, it is a little pricier. Units went for a hefty $3 million each when released. If you manage to find one of these gems, you can expect to pay even more than that to own it.
McLaren P1 GTR
The McLaren P1 GTR is made for the race track only. It reaches a maximum speed of 217 mph and goes from zero to 60 in 2.8 seconds. Unlike the others on this list, unless you have some experience in the racing circuit, you won’t likely find yourself behind the wheel of one of these. It also costs around $3 million.
Jaguar E-Type
In 1963, a limited line of 18 special GT E-type jaguars with improved aluminum bodies were set to be built. However, only 12 of the 18 were actually produced. Over 50 years later, the new Jaguar E-type will be built to make the line complete. A special team of engineers are responsible for creating the six remaining cars using exact recreations of parts from the originals. Buying one of the six new E-types could cost close to $2 million but is on an invite basis only.
F60 America
The F60 America is the Italian carmaker’s way of celebrating 60 years of being in the United States. Production of the models was capped at 10, making them quite a collectible in the auto world. Naturally the 10 units sold out quickly. Maximum speed is 200 mph, and the price for one is about $3.2 million.
Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta
The shiny, new cars may have a hefty price tag, but it’s the classics that are the priciest. The Ferrari 259 GTO has been called the best car in the automaker’s history by multiple publications. It was intended for racing competitions, and only 39 models were released in 1962. Even though it was released over 50 years ago, its previous owner, Fabrizio Violati drove it in racing events across the world. When it went for $38 million in 2014, it broke the record for the most expensive car sold at a public auction.
