There’s a high chance that you know someone on the transplant list. After all, a new name is added to this list every ten minutes in the United States. They might need a new heart, kidney, liver, or even a new pair of lungs. Kevin D’Agostino was on the waiting list for a new pair of lungs, but he had no idea what his family had in store for him. A Diagnosis At Birth

Although Kevin D’Agostino wanted nothing more than a lung transplant, he had learned to live with his condition. He had been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was born, and he had learned over the years that this genetic disorder would get progressively worse over the course of his life. He knew that he was not in the best health, but he also knew that there were people that were worse. Because of this, he hoped that he would be able to receive a lung transplant when it was his time.

On The List

Kevin had been on the transplant list for a huge amount of time, and he still believed that he was a long way away from getting new lungs. However, when his family discovered that he would be having a transplant sooner rather than later, they decided to put a plan into action. They all walked into his bedroom at 3 am and gently woke him up. Kevin was naturally confused and wanted to know why everyone was waking him up at such an hour. At first, he didn’t believe the truth.

Kevin later made his way to the hospital, where he underwent a successful lung transplant. His brother updated his fans on social media, and also took the time to thank the donor’s family during such a bittersweet moment.
