Some people won’t rest until they know that everyone is happy. So what about when those people are total strangers? That didn’t matter as one man was willing to drive over 1,000 miles to rescue a family – even if they had never met before!

A Sudden Halt
Daryn Melrose was traveling with his wife and two daughters across the Australian outback when the car suddenly stopped. The two girls were on their way to a sailing championship, but the family learned their car had broken down. Plus, they were towing their trailer with the boats onboard.
Spotting The News
Rodney Sims lived 600 miles away when he saw the news of the family’s troubles on social media. He might have been halfway across the country, but Rodney was determined to put all of his goodwill to the test. Amazingly, he had a good reason for his generosity.

Returning A Deed
It turned out that Rodney was once in a very similar situation. It was about 30 years ago when his car broke down. Thankfully, a kind stranger stepped up to make sure Rodney was safe, and now he viewed this as his chance to give back to another family in need.
Making The Trip
Rodney traveled through Friday, collected the family and their trailer, and delivered them to the competition by Saturday. Amazingly, they made it just in time for the championships. All in all, Rodney drove around 1,200 miles to rescue people he had never met.
The family couldn’t believe they had been rescued by a stranger from across the country. Thankfully, their car was later delivered to the competition so they could take it to a local mechanic before returning home. Rodney was just happy to help. It turns out that not all heroes wear capes.
13+ Daring Red Carpet Looks That Were Definitely Worth The Risk
The red carpet gives celebrities a chance to show off their true selves and to put on a show. Posing effortlessly in front of the cameras in designer gowns, we put together some of the most daring looks seen on the red carpet.
Hot Pink
No one really knows what “camp” fashion is, but Lady Gaga showed us how it’s done. The singer showed up at the 2019 Met Gala in a massive hot pink gown, designed by Brandon Maxwell. Complete with a train and a matching bow on her head. This dramatic pink look was the start of what would become a live four-outfit change that happened on the red carpet itself! She started by taking off her giant pink cape to reveal an all-black ensemble, topped off with a matching umbrella even though there wasn’t a cloud in sight.

Future Girl
Dencia attended the 2017 Billboard Music Awards wearing this black and yellow outfit, looking like she walked straight out of the future. This tight bold bionic look topped with a headdress was one of the night’s most talked-about ensembles.

Risky Sister
Queen Bey’s younger sister, Solange, is known as a fashion risk-taker. The dress she wore to the 2015 Met Gala is a great example of that. She arrived at the Met Gala wearing a structured Giles dress that was what we call daring. Since Anna Wintour has banned social media usage at the Gala, Solange shared a photo of her unique dress hours before the event began. Critics were torn when asked about this look, some loved it and some absolutely hated it. But if anyone could pull it off, it’s Solange.

Under My Umbrella Ella Ella
Everyone can agree that Rihanna looks good in pretty much everything, she has a daring sense of style that people adore. She’s known for taking risks, especially on the red carpet. An example of one of these daredevil fashion moments was displayed at the 2015 Met Gala. Guo Pei, a Chinese designer, designed the dramatic gown. It took Pei nearly two years to make and was not originally made for Rihanna. It weighs nearly 55 pounds!

Leopardess From Head To Toe
Nicki Minaj is known for her daring style, so we had to include her twice in this list, because well, she deserves it. The red carpets at the music awards are the one award show where this star shines and in 2011 she outdid herself. She chose a leopard theme and stuck to it in this Givenchy look. Head to toe in leopard print, topped off with a Bride of Frankenstein hairstyle and hot pink lipstick. You love it or hate it, either way, Queen Nicki does not care.

Billy Stole The Show
2019 was a big year for Billy Porter. Although he had no nominations at the Academy Awards, Porter stole the show. The actor was one of the first to walk the red carpet. He wore a tuxedo that turns into a ballgown designed by Christian Sirano. Porter knew that the Academy Awards red carpet was a once in a lifetime experience, and he wanted to make the most out of the opportunity. His tux/gown was one of the first outfits of the night, but it was by far the most impressive.

Roman Holiday
Nicki Minaj is known for being provocative with her music, and as it turns out she’s the same with her fashion statements as well! Stunning us all at the 2012 Grammy Awards in this eye-catching Versace cape. The red layered gown she was wearing wasn’t the only thing turning heads, and it was the fact that she was walking arm-in-arm with a man dressed in full Catholic garb. She was trying to make a statement about religion, but the message got lost in all the fuss that was made over the look.

A Star Is Born
Rising star and ultimate beauty Lupita Nyong’o is one of Hollywood’s best-dressed women. The Oscar winner wore this stunning piece to the 2014 Met Gala. The flapper girls from the 1920s inspired this look, and the Prada gown was a bold choice. The brown dress was covered with a netted layer of emerald green beads and feathers. The actress got mixed reviews online, people weren’t sure about the headpiece she wore with it. The full ensemble was a daring look, but we think she pulled it off beautifully.

The Heiress Is Here
The hotel heiress shined brighter than the stars at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Paris Hilson wore a sheer, glittery and gold backless gown designed by Yousef Al-Jasmi. Thierry Fremaux, a Cannes director, called Hilton’s dress choice“ridiculous and grotesque.” Hilton broke the event’s number one rule: no selfies! We can’t blame her though, looking the way she did, we would want to take some selfies too! Although she was criticized by many, Hilton attended the film festival the following year.

Girl-Next-Door No More
The Met Gala is known for allowing celebs to show off their most striking looks. Taylor Swift, who we usually acknowledge as the girl next door, had fans turning heads with one of her edgiest looks yet. The Louis Vuitton dress, which was dubbed “robo-chic” wasn’t the only part of this ensemble that stunned everyone. The singer wore this metallic look to the 2016 Met Gala. Along with this killer dress, Swift wore some bold hair and makeup, accompanied by gladiator heels.

JVN For The Win
The Queer Eye star, Jonathan Van Ness, is known for pushing boundaries. The Fab 5 grooming expert wore a sheer black dress with a thigh-high slit to the Creative Arts Emmys in 2018. Van Ness topped of this flawless look with black heels, and a lot of people had a lot to say about the ensemble. Reviews were mixed, and one commenter said he looked like the villain in a movie, but a majority of the people loved this look.

Origami Gown
Actress Deepika Padukone closed the 2018 Cannes Film Festival with none other than this daring hot pink Ashi Studio gown. She wore this origami gown on day two of the festival, along with diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. She turned head with her color choices at the festival, wearing purple and metallic gold as well. This hot pink number was a bold choice but she pulled it off flawlessly as she strutted down the red carpet for the last time that year.

If This Tux Could Talk
Men have worn some of the most daring red carpet looks, but it seems like we don’t pay attention to these outfits as we do to women’s ensembles. The If Beale Street Could Talk star, Stephan James wowed at the 2019 Academy Awards red carpet with his risky outfit. Stephan wore a red velvet Etro tux that fit him perfectly. The beautiful outfit was a bold look, considering most men wear the classic black tux. We’re hoping this look inspires men to dress outside of their comfort zone!

Cookie Tray Dress
Designer Larisa Katz shocked everyone with this whole look at the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival in 2013. As most of her looks at the 2013 festival were questionable choices, it isn’t surprising that the critics were less than impressed with this gown. The golden dress resembled caramel popcorn but was made entirely of gold cookie trays that seemed to be held together by wire. Katz demonstrated that fashion doesn’t have to be restrained to certain fabrics.

Pretty In Pink
Kacey Musgraves is a name everyone has heard by now. The rising country star was a presenter at the 2019 Academy Awards, and her red carpet look had everyone’s head spinning. Pink was a popular dress color at the ceremony, but critics all agreed that Kacey’s was by far the best. Wearing a puffy Giambattista Valli dress, the cotton candy gown left everyone in awe. The talented musician proved that she could outdress most people on the red carpet, even if she was only there to present an award rather than receive one.

A Breath Of Fresh Air
At 15, Elsie Fisher has become one of the most stylish and interesting people to look out for on the red carpet. Instead of wearing a dress, she wore a beautifully tailored suit from Thom Browne. The young actress wore this bold ensemble to the 2019 Academy Awards and it seems like she’s taking the fashion world by storm. It seems as though the Eight Grade actress is one of Hollywood’s biggest discoveries – she’s showing us that fashion and talent go hand in hand.

Mellow Yellow
A yellow dress is always a bold move, especially on the red carpet. Yellow and red don’t always go good together, but Constance Wu knew exactly how to pull it off. The Versace dress was the perfect shade. The off-the-shoulder gown featured crystals, and she topped off the look with a simple ponytail. It was one of the most attractive, gorgeous looks at the 2019 Academy Awards red carpet, and we can’t wait to see more of her.

The Princess (Fashion) Diaries
The Met Gala always seems to bring out the best (and sometimes worst) in Hollywood’s elite. The 2013 gala had a punky theme to it, and Anne Hathaway went all out for it. She wore a see-through black Valentino gown that’s so far from her usual red-carpet looks, and the critics loved it. This daring look for the actress, accompanied by a short platinum blonde pixie hairstyle takes Hathaway’s fashion to a new level.

Angie’s Right Leg
Some stars were born to slay the red carpet, and Angelina Jolie is one of those stars. She has been a red carpet icon for most of her career and has had many talked-about fashion moments. One of her most memorable moments was this 2012 Academy Awards dress from Versace. The elegant black gown looks simple, but the thigh-high slit wowed everyone on the red carpet at the event and has been wowing us all ever since. The gown even got it’s own Twitter account called Angie’s Right Leg, gaining thousands of followers instantly.

Make It Rain
Priyanka Chopra is always stunning, and we’re used to seeing her in simple gowns – nothing too shocking. In 2017, she took a major risk when she wore a trench coat to the Met Gala. Designed by Ralph Lauren, the dress made headlines around the world. The fashion critics had split opinions, some loved it, and some didn’t. The popped collar, high slit, and exaggerated train are all very daring, and people are still talking about this look to this day.

Her Mind Has Been Made Up
Sometime’s the craziest looks come from people we’ve never heard about. In this case, we’re talking about the former reality television star, Elena Lenina. The Russian star shocked everyone at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival when she wore a hot pink dress and giant pink and blonde headpiece to top it off. It has been said that she stood out for all the wrong reasons, but this bold young socialite is a force to be reckoned with as every red carpet seems to be a stage she shines on.

The Swan Princess
This dress may as well be one of the most-talked-about dresses in red-carpet history. It stole the show at the 2001 Academy Awards and was designed by Marjan Pejoski. The Icelandic singer Bjork wore this dress, and it seems that she’s more well known for this look than her music. Pejoski designed the gown, which was made to look like she had a swan wrapped around her neck. Many fashion critics criticized her at the time. Since the Academy Awards that year, the dress has become iconic and was featured in New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 2015.

Turning Simple Into Daring
We told you earlier that we are used to seeing Priyanka Chopra in simple gowns. Well, she took ‘simple’ to the next level in this Ralph & Russo gown. She stunned with this not-so-classic simple dress, a white elegant strapless with a twist at the Acadamy Award red carpet in 2017. Something about this checkered look is daring, not that many people can pull it off. Chopra looked stunning and fierce in this ensemble.

Baby, I Was Born This Way
Lady Gaga has always been one of the most daring dressers in the entertainment industry, so we’re going to hit you with another one of her daring looks. She has stunned viewers multiple times, and one of the most infamous outfits she has worn was her “meat dress.” She wore this look at the 2010 VMAS, put together by Franc Fernandez. The dress was made of actual beef, matched with shoes and a headpiece. Lady Gaga, who is a self-proclaimed vegan, said that she did not mean to disrespect animals, the dress was a part of a protest for LGBTQ rights.

Crazy Beautiful
Crazy Rich Asians was one of 2018’s biggest blockbusters. Gemma Chan was one of several rising actors that starred in the flick. This Valentino dress looked flawless on the actress. The high neckline highlighted Chan’s beautiful features. The elegant fuchsia gown with expanding frills was one of the reasons Chan stole the show at the 2019 Academy Awards red carpet. Not to mention the gown had pockets in it, which is always a fun bonus!
