With all New Years, come new resolutions. While many of us try and try again to achieve the same goals we have continuously hoped to pursue, there are some that are more attainable than others. With saving money being the third most common New Year’s resolution in the UK, many people often give up on this after a month or so. Now that summer is rolling in, spending is bound to increase, so it might be a good idea to revisit that resolution you made back in January. With Apartment Therapy’s 365 Day Challenge, saving money for the rest of 2018 can surely be done, without feeling like you have to make any sacrifices – even if it took you a few months to actually start sticking to your goals.

The 365 Day Challenge works like this: You save $1 on Sunday, $2 on Monday, $3 on Wednesday, and so on, then start again with saving $1 on Sunday. The result will be saving $28 by the end of each week, and have collected just under $1,500 every year! In the grand scheme of things, the money you are saving each day does not seem like so much. Especially with how much you probably spend on Fridays and Saturdays, this saving can amount to a very nice sum by the end of each year.

Tips For Sticking To It You can use anything from a money jar to a bank transfer, that is entirely up to you. It would also be good to think in advance what you would do with that money. How would you spend $1,500? Perhaps you will choose to use it towards a holiday or a deposit for a house. Whatever it may be, you can bend the rules a bit to make it suit you more favorably. When the months get too busy and expensive, such as December with Christmas, then save some more money throughout January when things quiet down.

There is also the option of making a weekly transfer of $28 which works all the same. That way, if you forget about putting coins in the jar, or do not want it laying around the house, then the bank transfer will work perfectly, and you’ll never miss a saving. Even though we are not on January 1st anymore, it is never too late to start saving and begin the challenge.

Answer — the capital of Chile is Santiago. One of the largest cities in all of South America, Santiago has a population of seven million and was found in 1541 by Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia.

Over the last decade, Kim Kardashian has settled down with none other than Kanye West, and together, the power couple has built a big family together. In just seven years, Kimye has had four kids, with some pretty unorthodox names, to boot. But, which one was her first-born?

Answer — Kim Kardashian’s eldest child is named North West. According to Kris Jenner, Kim named her first-born North West because it means “highest power.” Her other kids are named Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

There are many countries out there that are blessed with many mountain ranges and impressive peaks. While Great Britain doesn’t really have any ranges on par with the Alps or the Himalayas, it does have some tall mountains. But, which one is the highest?

In the last few years, Meghan Markle has become one of the most recognizable names in the world. This is mainly due to the fact that she joined the British Royal Family. But, Markle was already famous before marrying Prince Harry. Do you know why?

Answer — Not everyone is aware of this, but before marrying into the Royal Family, Meghan Markle was making a name for herself as a talented actress. She played Rachel Zane in the hit series Suits.

The idea that there are other planets out there with potential life on them is fascinating, to say the very least. More planets seem to be discovered as time goes on and they’re all different sizes and colors. This begs the question — which planet is the largest of them all?

Some of us think that we know all of the capital cities around the world. However, some are trickier than others. One of those examples is in Australia.

Answer — Canberra. It is a common misconception that Sydney is the capital of “Down Under.” The first city that the British built in Aussie was Sydney. However, Melbourne wanted to be the capital as it became the largest city at one point. A compromise was eventually made and Canberra was built, which is located 100 miles away from Sydney.

While his name makes it sound like he was Italian, it turns out that Harry Houdini was from somewhere else entirely. The master of illusions and escape acts wowed audiences with his awesome stunts and his name will always be associated with the art. But, where was he from exactly?

Answer — Harry Houdini was actually born in Budapest. Born Erik Weisz, Houdini spent his early years in the Hungarian capital before moving to the US to further his reputation.

Even though Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa might supersede The Last Supper in terms of recognizability, the sight of Jesus Christ sitting with his disciples one last time has been recreated millions of times. But, where is this classic painting?

Answer — The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci is located in Milan, Italy. More surprisingly, the painting isn’t in a typical museum. It can be found in the convent Santa Maria Delle Grazie.

It was a giant leap for mankind on July 20th, 1979, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on the Moon, the first time humans had ever achieved such a feat. But, who was the third astronaut in the American crew?

Answer — Michael Collins. This command module pilot flew the Command Module Columbia by himself while Armstrong and Aldrin spent close to a full day on the moon’s surface. He is still alive today.

No matter how we feel about certain species, it seems like every single baby version of an animal is absolutely adorable. These include baby elephants. While they might be large, even from birth, they look extremely huggable. But, what are they actually called?

Answer — Like cows, a baby elephant is known as a calf. When a new calf is born, the entire herd will love and care for it. Like most babies (human babies being a rare exception, ironically), an elephant calf will struggle to walk for the first few days.

Answer — The Blair Witch Project depicts three students traveling through the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland as they do research about a local legend called the Blair Witch.

When you studied about animals at school, you probably remember that all species are either vertebrates or invertebrates. However, depending on when you were last in school, you may have forgotten exactly what these means. What is it that invertebrates lack?

Answer — a spine. Invertebrates are animals that don’t have a backbone. Examples of invertebrates include insects, arachnids, crustaceans, squids, jellyfish, and many other species. In fact, about 97% of all animals are invertebrates, which is hard to believe!

When you think of iconic art museums, you think of the Louvre and the Guggenheim, and also the Hermitage Museum. This institute boasts work by some of the greatest artists of all time, such as Rembrandt, Matisse, and Degas, to name a few. But, which city is it located in?

Answer — The Hermitage Museum can be found in St. Peterburg, Russia. It is the second-largest art museum in the world and attracts more than five million visitors every year.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a promising return to a galaxy far, far Away, and saw many of the beloved characters from the original trilogy alongside a plethora of exciting new characters. One of the latter was the alien pirate Maz Kanata. But, who played her?

Answer — it was Lupita Nyong’o who played the motion capture performance for Maz Kanata, the head of the pirate cove in Takodana. Maz appears also in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

There isn’t really much that connects the countries Afghanistan, Nepal, and Uganda. None of them are particularly close to one another and they all have very unique cultures and languages. However, their capital cities all begin with the same letter. Which one is it?

Answer — the letter beginning each of these countries’ capital cities is “K.” Go ahead, we’ll even prove it for you. Afghanistan’s capital is Kabul, Nepal’s is Kathmandu, and Uganda’s is Kampala.

The human body is a truly majestic thing. It has so many vital organs needed to make it work to its full potential, and some of them are very big and heavy. These include the lungs, the heart, the stomach, amongst others. But, which one is the heaviest of them all?

Answer — The liver. Usually, a human liver weighs about 3.3 lbs, with a width of approximately six inches. However, size and weight vary considerably between men and women, and even between individuals.

There are some foods that can trace their origins back to one specific place and the following two are prime examples: Gumbo and Jambalaya. The former is a stocky, meaty soup while the latter is a rice dish that often includes sausage and shellfish. But, where are they from?

Answer — Gumbo and Jambalaya can trace their origins back to the state of Louisiana. The latter specifically was invented in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Many diehard Harry Potter fans still believe that the books are better than the movies and to be fair, they do have a point. The novels are rich and full of detail about the characters and the world of Hogwarts. Which character is described as having a “wild, tangled beard?”

Answer — Hagrid. Truth be told, there are a couple of characters that could have fit this description. Of course, Albus Dumbledore also had a beard that was pretty wild and tangled.

While he was a polarizing figure, to say the very least, there is no denying that Napoleon Bonaparte is one of the most important figures in French history. This military leader became the Emperor of France between 1804 and 1814. But, where exactly was he born?

Answer — Corsica. Funnily enough, Napoleon wasn’t actually born in mainland France. His birthplace was Ajaccio, a city in the Meditteranean, French-speaking island of Corsica. In the photo can be seen a monument that was erected in Napoleon’s hometown in his memory.

There is no denying that the following fruit has an extremely unique look to it. With its leather-like skin and scaly spikes, it has developed two commonly used names over the years. But, what are they?

Answer — In Central America, this fruit is widely known as a pitaya. However, since around 1963, consumers in various parts of the world have referred to it as a dragon fruit due to its resemblance to the mythological creature.

The Bowhead Whale is certainly a majestic creature. However, there is one thing about them that is officially the longest out of all the mammals on the planet. What is it?

Answer — Lifespan. While the human lifespan seems like it’s increasing all the time because of medical advances and a better quality of life in general, it is the bowhead whale who apparently has the longest lifespan of all mammals. Some reports estimate that these incredible sea creatures have lived up to 211 years of age.

The assassination of Julius Caesar is an important moment in Ancient Roman history, so much so that it was even transformed into a play by William Shakespeare. While the historical event happened on March 15th, 44 BC, what is it often referred to as?

Answer — The Ides of March. This date is the 74th day in the Roman calendar and was considered to be the deadline for settling debts. Caesar’s assassination occurred on the Ides of March in 44 BC.

If you have a half-decent command of the English language, you are probably aware that some words have letters that are “silent.” With that in mind, let’s focus on the word “head,” which is a prime example of a word that consists of silent letters. But, which one is it?

Answer — Because “H”, “E”, and “D”can be heard when you say you say the word “head,” it is easy to deduce that the silent letter is, in fact, “A.”
