Many people dream of finding buried treasure and living off the riches for the rest of their life, but it’s fair to say that stories of this golden bounty rarely come true and are instead reserved for picture books and fairytales. However, it seems as though that isn’t always the case. A treasure chest full of gold has been found in the Rocky Mountains, and that lucky person has now been able to open the chest up to the treasure within.

A Treasure Hunt
Whether you live near the Rocky Mountains or whether you’re just familiar with the area and the stories that surround these natural wonders, you may have heard stories of treasure buried within the mountains. Much to many people’s surprise, this wasn’t just a fictional story made up to keep children busy during the summer months. In 2010, an 89-year-old antiquities collector by the name of Forrest Fenn decided to hide a treasure chest full of gold worth around $1 million somewhere within the Rocky Mountains. He did this because he wanted people to go in search of the treasure, while also enjoying the natural world around them.

Offering Them Clues
However, Forrest didn’t just leave it at that. After choosing the spot to hide the gold and the diamonds, he decided to offer some clues up to anyone who wanted to embark on their treasure-hunting mission. He wrote a poem within his book, The Thrill of the Chase, and left clues within these words in the hope that someone would be able to decipher them. Well, it seems as though that time has now come. Although Forrest has not released the name of the person who found his treasure, he has confirmed that it has now been taken from its place “under a canopy of stars in the lush, forested vegetation of the Rocky Mountains.”
We wonder what this person will do with their newfound treasure?
