Scientists have recently come up with a new method for creating an artificial ovary, providing hope for women who are unable to have children without the use of a surrogate. This innovative technology is currently in the developmental phase, but researchers are hopeful that the technique will be particularly beneficial for women and girls facing chemotherapy.
A big problem facing female cancer survivors is the inability to bear children following intensive treatment. Chemotherapy, a common and effective cancer treatment method, can often destroy a woman’s ovaries, leading to infertility. For young girls who have yet to go through puberty, chemotherapy can leave them sterile before their ovaries are even able to produce eggs.
Until now, the solution has been to freeze ovarian tissue prior to chemotherapy and replace it later. This method is problematic, however, because reintroducing the ovarian tissue bears the risk of exposing the patient to potentially cancerous cells suppressed within the ovarian tissue.
Now, researches are working on a groundbreaking technique that uses the woman’s own tissue to create a synthetic organ, allowing her to produce eggs naturally. This technique acts to first get rid of all of the patients’ cancerous cells, leaving behind a simple ‘scaffold,’ or protein framework which holds zero cells.
This ‘scaffold’ allows for the ovarian follicles, which will produce eggs, to grow. Once eggs are produced, the synthetic organ can be grafted into the patient’s body, allowing her to naturally produce her own eggs each month.
Dr. Susanne Pors, a researcher at Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet Laboratory of Reproductive Biology, recently shared the advancements at Barcelona’s European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology conference.
Dr. Pors stated that the artificial ovary procedure supported the development of human eggs “in a tissue bed which is free of malignancies.” She also explained that “this is the first time that isolated human follicles have survived in a decellularized human scaffold, and, as a proof-of-concept, it could offer a new strategy in fertility preservation without risk of malignant cell re-occurrence.”
35 Times People Were Randomly Hit With Crazy

It is not every day you get to see something strange and out of the ordinary. Sometimes though, you see something so surprising that you even forget to take a picture to capture the moment. A number of people have been hit with crazy in the past, and fortunately, they have pictures to prove it. Below is a list of 35 times people were randomly hit with crazy.
A Dog House
This dog house is one of the strangest you would ever come across. Made of wood, it is structured into stories with each dog having its own floor.

This is quite different from the normal dog houses you see every day, but at least these dogs have space to themselves. It does not offer much on the aesthetic front, but it is at least conducive.
Banana Car
How in the world did this guy come about a banana car? Taking the shape and color of a ripe banana, this guy was seen cruising in his car.

The designer of the car did a good job, and it just gives everyone the idea that you can pimp your car to resemble your favorite fruit. This is quite appealing.
KFC Bucket
Standing in the middle of this field is a giant KFC bucket. You would expect to see a scarecrow in the position where the bucket stands, but the field owner fancied it enough to leave it there.

The story behind this is that a KFC outlet once stood on this field, and the bucket was all that was left of the structure after it was torn down. It is quite unusual seeing it stand out on a field, but the owner likes it that way.
The Trailer Jet
You might never see anything crazier than a trailer made from a jet. The camping trailer still very much resembles a jet with its all-white color and three wheels.

It looks like something you would want to drive in, and whoever came up with the idea deserves a lot of praise. You can’t help but wonder how fast the trailer can run.
A Skatepark?
This driveway looks more like a skatepark than an actual driveway. With the curves and turns, you might even say that it appears to have the shape of a whale’s tail.

Skateboarders will love this one, as they can rack up exquisite combinations in one sweep. It is only left to see how other vehicles will get through, possibly other provisions were made.
The Right Angles
Nothing better defines crazy than this pub that has framed arts hanging at several right-angled corners in the room. This seems to be a perfect collaboration between an artist who likes getting their angles right and a decorator who knows just where to put it.

There are around five such framed arts in this pub creating a cluster in close proximity with four other frames.
Dr. Little’s Lab
This door reads ”Dr. Minnie Little, Nanotechnology Lab,” and well the door is quite little. The door looks more like a pet door than one created for humans.

Dr. Little might just not be the nanotechnology expert that he claims to be. Who knows? It could well be the location for a top-secret mission like time travel, with the door being some kind of portal.
The Pie Heater
Here we have a hot water heater which doubles as a pie warmer. How strange is that? It means you can get your pie warm for eating while waiting for your water to heat up.

The only issue with this appliance is that it belongs in the past millennium, as water heaters like this are outdated. Who warms pie on a hot water heater when you have an oven?
Sea Salt
This is a container of sea salt, which strangely has a tiny seashell in it. The seashell is a way of authenticating that the salt came from the sea, one could suppose.

It would only be out of place if someone didn’t notice the shell and ground it with the salt. You would not want to have bits of shell in your food after salting.
Giant AirPods
AirPods are the new cool and everyone is making the switch from wired earphones. This gigantic AirPod Bluetooth speaker, however, does not look like something anyone would be enthused about.

Although taking the shape of a portable AirPod, it is way bigger and can only be held, and not put into the ears. It actually looks more like a hairdryer than a speaker.
The Pittsburgh Confluence
This is a confluence in downtown Pittsburgh where two rivers meet, namely the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River. It is interesting to note that the two rivers have very different blends, with Allegheny appearing dirty and Monongahela looking much cleaner.

Seeing them before they mix up together makes for amazing scenery, as the rivers take on a single color forming the Ohio river after meeting.
Crazy Linda
This is literally crazy, as the cashier name on the receipt says ”Crazy Linda.” There are so many questions to ask like: How did she get the name? Is it a joke? Is she really crazy?

Whatever it is, it would be wise to be on your best behavior at this restaurant—make a quick order, be polite, tip generously, and ensure to leave quietly.
Ghost Birds
The idea of the existence of ghosts varies from one person to another, but no one can deny the brilliance of these ghost-like bird imprints on this crystal clear window.

The imprints were created by the impact and consistency with which the birds hit the window. The ghost birds look very intriguing and must be quite a sight at night.
The Asio Stygius
Owls usually appear one of two extremes. It is either you find one that is very beautiful or you come across a very scary creature. The Asio Stygius falls into the latter category.

With very red eyes and black feathers, you are most likely going to be intimidated by this bird. Owls are known to stare intensely, and you sure do not want a staredown with this one.
Alien Spaceship
McDonald’s restaurants are known for their incredible designs, but this one stands out no doubt. This restaurant is designed in the shape of an alien spaceship. How cool is that?

The whole structure is red in color, with the famous yellow McDonald’s trademark arches sitting at the top. The restaurant is located in Roswell, New Mexico, a city famed for alien claims. Perhaps, not a coincidence.
The Whole Iceberg
This is way more than the tip of the iceberg. This enormous iceberg has a blue tint, making it such a breathtaking sight. The blue tint was caused by the iceberg flipping over.

If you don’t believe how big it is, the tiny size of the penguins captured with it should be enough to convince you.
The Fruitful Penny
Of all the places to expect a plant to grow, under a penny is the most unlikely. Succulents found a way to grow under this penny in a coin-sized hole, and it is such a beautiful sight to see.

It is quite telling that the penny carries the inscription ”IN GOD WE TRUST.” Both the plant and the coin seem to be in perfect condition.
Car Buried In Snow
It is possible to have missed the car when taking a first glance at the picture. The car was covered totally in snow after a snowstorm, and only the mirror sticking out shows that it is really a car.

It formed a little white mountain, with the whole area also covered in snow. It will take a lot of time and patience to get the car clean.
The Source Is The Cross
This church needed to add solar panels to the building, and guess what shape it took? The shape of a cross. This is genius and a classic case of killing two birds with one stone.

On one hand, they have installed the new addition, on the other hand, they made the building much easier to identify. Whoever designed it deserves a lot of credit.
A Fire Pattern
This fire door has a unique and interesting pattern. However, the pattern did not come by design, but by the fire door being put to its primary use. A fire broke out in the building and the door got scorched leaving it looking like that.

Going by this fine pattern, one can say that unfortunate events sometimes birth beautiful results.
In Deer Need Of A Rescue
Sometimes in life, we make plans and get a different result, as this fisherman was about to find out. He set out to the coast of Maine to get a netful of lobster but instead left with a stray deer.

The poor deer was five miles offshore, with very little chance of finding its way back alone. One cannot help but wonder how the deer got that far offshore.
A Rubber Duck Store
Everyone must have had a rubber duck at one point or another, but it is hard to believe a store full of rubber ducks for sale exists anywhere.

They look like those toys you just pick up along with a couple of other items, and not something you visit a specific store for. This store is home to hundreds of rubber ducks, coming in different colors and sizes.
A Shark Bus
There is hardly a crazier sight on your way to work than seeing a shark bus driving behind a Fillet ‘O Fish car.

You might wonder what went down between these two vehicles, probably a grudge from the aquatic world, or a friendly excursion on land. This hilarious event occurred in Auckland and the residents of that area sure had a field day.
Passage du Gois
Located in France, Passage du Gois is a road that is flooded twice a day, making it drivable for only a few hours per day. Passage de Gois is usually submerged under 13 feet of water when flooded.

Going by this description, imagine how distressful it would be to get stuck in traffic on this road. The people in the picture have first-hand experience of that, as they were stuck in a gridlock on Passage du Gois.
A Thermal Rainbow
At first sight, it looks like a magic potion coming out of a flask, just like we have seen in Harry Potter. This rainbow steam, however, came about by careful calculation.

The thermos was placed in a position where refracted light was able to pass through it, thereby creating the thermal rainbow. It is quite a beautiful sight.
Frosted Car
From the angle in which the picture was taken, this looks like a tundra. In reality, it is the roof of a car covered by early morning frost.

This looks more manageable than the snow-covered car above, as the car is identifiable and the frost can be wiped off very easily.
The Red Sun
The sun takes on a reddish hue whenever there is too much smoke in the air. This is the case in Australia, where this picture was taken.

There has been an outbreak of wildfires in the continent recently causing serious smoke, and the red sun has become a common fixture. It is the hope of everyone around the world that the fires stop soon.
A Jigsaw Nightmare
You might get a headache just by staring at this jigsaw puzzle. It has well over five hundred pieces with no picture whatsoever to act as a guide. In all fairness, it looks more like a punishment than a fun thing to do.

One thing is sure however, puzzle lovers and geniuses will see this as a treat and consider solving this puzzle a much-needed challenge.
Bone and Arrow
In this picture are the bones of a deer and sticking out of these bones is an arrow. The arrow must have come about during a hunting expedition which the deer survived, but how the bones grew over it is quite surprising.

The bones grew over the arrow and scientists must have had a field day trying to explain this phenomenon. Strange indeed.
Broken Glass
This sign is not as reassuring as it was intended to be. The glass in the zoo is cracked and a sign was put up to explain the situation. It is quite clear that the bears are the animals behind this glass fiasco, but there is no actual information about how the glass got cracked.

All that is offered is that it is still strong enough to withstand the strength of the bears and replacement will be done soon. You might want to stay away from this zoo for a while.
Welcome to Hell?
This sign is supposed to read ”Shell,” but somehow the ”S” is gone and all that is left is ”hell.” It is quite a coincidence, because hell is described as a place of fire.

The letter ”S” was torched and it serves as a timely reminder of the over-reliance on fossil fuels, as well as the dangers of global warming. It is best that the sign is fixed, as it might make a lot of people uncomfortable.
Heartbeat Pattern
If you look closely at the picture, you will notice that the window and door have the same heartbeat pattern etched into them.

The window looks like it was a deliberate design, while that on the door is not so certain. Whatever the case may be, this is a beautiful sight and an excellent combination. This combination is perfect for a hospital.
A Square Rip Tide
These rip tides are moving beautifully, forming perfect square patterns. They are very nice to look at with their lovely patterns, but the downside of it is the waters are at their most dangerous at this point.

You might want to look at it from a distance rather than get any closer.
A Mummified Apple
This was discovered by a person who was attempting to remove an old dishwasher. It looks quite unidentifiable and only the label gives away its true identity as an apple.

The apple has undergone a great deal of decomposition and is left looking mummified.
A Real-Life Teddy Bear
Bears naturally appear scary, however, this one looks really cute, you might even be tempted to cuddle it.

The bear is really fat and you might just start to believe there is a big chance of outrunning it, but as the saying goes, “better safe than sorry.” It would be best to admire from a distance.
